ISABEL MARY MACKAY (nee GREEN) It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Isabel Mackay, at The Convalescent Home of Winnipeg, on Saturday, October 7, 2017. Isabel is survived by her children, Rick Mackay (Tuulikki), Debbie Clive (Patrick), Jeff MacKay (Monique); her sister Elsie Green, of Arizona; grandchildren, Marika (Marc), Matthew, Anna, Tommy, Avery and three great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Arthur and brother George Green. Isabel was born in Winnipeg on May 14, 1930 and grew up in East Kildonan, where she met her husband Art. She worked at Eaton's in the early part of her career, before taking time off to raise her family. Isabel was known as "Mom" to many, as the house was always a gathering place for the children in the neighbourhood. As her children got older, she went back to work as a Teacher's Aid in the River East School Division, retiring in 1990. Isabel and Art retired to their new home in Hillside Beach, where they were both very active in the Seniors Scene and made many wonderful friends. Isabel was a member of various Drama and Writing Clubs. Isabel's writing highlight was to have her play "Jamie" put on by Studio 22, Four on the Boards, in May 1972. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at The Convalescent Home of Winnipeg for their loving care and support over the last years of Mom's life. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Parkinson's Society or Alzheimer Society of Manitoba would be appreciated. The service will be held at Klassen Funeral Home on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. KLASSEN Funeral Home 1897 Henderson Highway, Winnipeg, MB (204) 338 0331 Condolences may be sent to www.klassenfuneralhome.com
