MIKE FIWCHUK Peacefully, at his residence on Monday, November 22, 1999, Mike Fiwchuk, aged 88 years of East Lower Fort Garry, beloved husband of Jenny. Mike was born in the Ukraine on August 19, 1911 and came to Canada in 1927. He homesteaded at East Lower Fort Garry and lived and farmed there. He worked at the C.I.L. plant until retirement. Mike was an accomplished oil painter, a handyman who was able to fix and make almost anything. He enjoyed reading and his Sunday drives with Bill, his trips to Selkirk with Dianne and time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mike was a kind and generous amn who will be missed by all who knew him. Mike was predeceased by four brothers; one sister and his first wife Lucy (Pihulak) in 1948. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Jenny (Gowryluk) his only son Bill (Dianne) of East Lower Fort Garry and his grandchildren, Troy and Denise (Greg) and his great-grandchildren, Brittany and Andrew; his step-son Terry (Susan) of Winnipeg and granddaughter Jodi. He also leaves two sisters, Ann (Norm) Unger of Winnipeg and Doris (Bob) Stavos of Minneapolis and his brother Adam of Toronto. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, November 25 at 2:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk with Pastor Matthew Neufeld officiating. Viewing will be held prior to the service. Interment will follow in the McKenzie Presbyterian Cemetery. His pallbearers will be Troy Fiwchuk, Bob Unger, Norm Unger, Mohinder Jass, Greg Cox and Raymond Unger.
