KENNETH WERNER RIST Ken was born on September 1, 1961. Beloved husband of Annette Rose Rist, his best friend, his love, his soulmate. Ken passed away suddenly in an accident on Saturday, March 3, 2001. Ken was a beloved son of Seno and Agnes Rist and brother to Carson and Wesley, all of whom are deeply grieved and mourn his passing. He will be missed more than words can say by us all. Ken spent his growing up years in the St. Vital area, attending Hastings Elementary and High School at Dakota Collegiate. He received his Building Technology diploma at Red River College, and was at the top of his class. Ken excelled in whatever he did. He proceeded to become president of the family-run company Gateway Construction & Engineering Ltd. He was chairman of the General Contractors of Winnipeg Construction Association for a term. He was presently on the Red River Community College Reunion Committee. Ken was a born again believer, accepting Christ as his personal saviour at an early age and was baptized at age eleven by Rev. Henry Goliath. He was a faithful member of Mission Baptist Church, active in many capacities such as Youth Group President, trustee, deacon, Sunday School teacher and dearly loved serving in the brass ensemble in which played 1st trumpet. He loved to play his trumpet, and many people were blessed through his solos at church services and at special occasions. Ken and Annette had recently begun attending at Southdale Community Baptist Church in the community where they lived in order to be more effective in their outreach efforts. They felt warmth and acceptance there. Ken and Annette were married on March 11, 1995 and would have been married six years next week. They enjoyed a very happy life together and loved doing all the same things. Among them were the cottage life and all that went with it, especially fishing. They also enjoyed travelling, motorcycle rides, playing tennis, jet skiing and boating. Ken leaves to mourn his passing his beloved wife and dearest friend Annette; mother and father, Seno and Agnes Rist; brothers, Carson (Doris) and Wesley; nephew Joshua and niece Lauren Rist; maternal grandmother Ernstina Rattai; mother and father-in-law Helmut and Barbara Mueller; brothers-in-law, Ralph (Allyson), Robert (Candy) sister-in-law Tammy (Donald) Litke; nephews, William, Joshua; nieces, Mercedes, Amber, Serena and Paige; as well many uncles and aunts, cousins and many friends. Funeral service will be held Friday, March 9 at 10:00 a.m. at Mission Baptist Church, 771 Sargent Ave., with interment following in Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. Viewing Thursday from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Hwy., and at the church prior to the service. Praise the Lord, praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens. Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness. Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre, praise him with tambourine and dancing, praise him with the strings and flute, praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals.
