MARY HOMIK (nee PASICHNY) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Mary Homik on Thursday, December 4, 2003 at the age of 80. Mary was born in Winnipeg on July 1, 1923, and graduated from St. Nicholas School. After attending Business College she worked as a secretary at various Winnipeg businesses. In 1952, she married Dr. Alexander M. Homik. As a young wife and mother she spent many happy summers at the family cottage at West Hawk Lake. In her later years she enjoyed travelling, attending the ballet, and visiting with her grandchildren. Mary was a lifelong member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, was active in the church choir, and was a longtime member of the Ukrainian Catholic Womens League. She was devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and she will be missed by all who knew her. She was predeceased by her husband Alexander in 1991. She is survived by her five children, Teresa of Calgary, John of Winnipeg, Lawrence (Leslie Jocelyn) of Winnipeg; Joanne (Allan Murray) of Edmonton, and Paul (Susan) of Calgary. She leaves to cherish her memory her six grandchildren, Stephen and Matthew Potyondi of Calgary, Alexandra and Cameron Murray of Edmonton, and Alexander and Reid Homik of Calgary, and numerous nieces and nephews in Canada and the United States. She is also survived by her brother, Most Rev. Cornelius J. Pasichny, Bishop Emeritus of the Eparchy of Toronto and Eastern Canada, as well as as many cousins. She was also predeceased by her brother Michael Pasichny in 1997. Recently she was a resident of the Holy Family Nursing Home. The family would like to thank the staff of Unit 2A, would also like to thank her longtime caregiver Lourdes Alarcon. We would like to thank Mrs. Terry Kasian for her kindness and devotion to our mother in her last years. Prayers will be sung at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 737 Bannerman Ave., on December 8 at 7:00 p.m. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on December 9 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Church, with Most Rev. Cornelius J. Pasichny OSBM and a Basilian Father officiating. Interment to follow at Holy Family Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Nicholas Church or the Alzheimer Society of Canada. KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 956-2193
