JAMES GORDON FIELD July 15, 1922 - September 14, 2005 With heavy hearts but wonderful memories we announce the passing of our father, grandfather, great-grandfather and best friend. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his four children, Ken (Brenda), Corrine (Kit), Karen (Bob), Robbie (Debbie); his grandchildren, Dawne (Craig), Jason, Michael (Tammy), Kevin, Tara, Robbie, Ashley; his great-grandchildren, Riley, Cole, Caitlin, Brianne; and his best friend and companion for the past several years Maureen. Jim was predeceased by his mother, father, five sisters and his wife of 41 years, Eleanore whom he met and married while serving with the RCAF. Jim joined the CNR in Montreal as a brakeman in 1939 moving to Thunder Bay in 1948 then moved to Transcona with CNR in November 1956. He retired in October 1982 as a conductor. He enjoyed his many trips to Hawaii, China, Mexico, Cuba, California, Texas, Florida, Portugal. Jim was a member of the Kilcona Masonic Lodge No. 183 since 1970. In 1975 Jim joined the Khartum Shrine with the Oriental Band Unit, and Vintage Car Unit in 1996. He was a member of the Elmwood Legion No. 9 for 36 years. A private family interment has taken place at Transcona Cemetery. A memorial service and Masonic service-reception will be held on Saturday, September 17 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the Wheeler Funeral Chapel, 701 Regent Avenue West, Transcona. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim's honour may be made to The Shrine Burn Fund, or CancerCare Manitoba (Research Foundation). We will have Dad's spirit with us always.
