EVA EILEEN GOODRIDGE (nee DUNCAN) December 22, 1921 - September 20, 2005 It is with great sorrow that the family announces the passing of Eva Eileen Goodridge on September 20, 2005. She was born and raised in Austin, MB, a place whose memories she fondly held in her heart throughout her entire life. Eva was predeceased by her husband Garry, and her younger brother Harve. She was a loving mother and grandmother of sons, Dennis of Osoyoos, BC, Gordon (Heather) and their family, Kyle, Krista and Eric; daughter Heather (Bill Nichols) and family, Cori (Scott) McLennan, Janelle and Daniel Landry; and great-granddaughters, Breanna and Jenna McLennan of Winnipeg; brother Douglas (Ruth) of Port Moody, BC, Jim (Evelyn) of Austin, MB, Erle (Julie) of Brandon, MB; several nieces and nephews and numerous cousins. Eva attended normal school in Brandon, MB. After receiving her teaching certificate in 1940, she began a lifelong journey of educating, mentoring and self improvement. Her career started in a one room school house in Waskada, MB. The majority of her teaching career was spent with the River East School Division where she developed many lifelong friendships amongst colleagues. Eva was especially proud of the many students she had the privilege of knowing and teaching. One of Eva's proudest moments came in 1974 when she achieved her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Winnipeg while she was still teaching and raising a young family. Eva had a passion for the Arts and for traveling. She was blessed to have enjoyed worldwide travels with her husband, family and friends. Mom shared a special relationship with her spiritual family at Immanuel United Church. Her Christianity, church friends and activities were always an integral part of her life. Her time spent at Donwood Manor provided her with many hours of enjoyment and support during her final years. Eva easily developed friends and her caring nature will be greatly missed by all that knew her. We would like to thank the oncology and palliative care units at Concordia Hospital. A special thank you to Dr. Pat Harris, Dr. Carl Doerksen and Rev. Nancy Sanders for their compassionate and attentive care. A private family service and interment will take place with a celebration of Eva's life to follow on Saturday, September 24 at 1:00 p.m. at Immanuel United Church, 755 Golspie St., East Kildonan. Pallbearers will be Kyle Goodridge, Eric Goodridge, Dan Landry, Scott McLennan, Brad Pickering and Andrew Mate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9 or The Immanuel United Church Memorial Fund, 755 Golspie Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2K 2V4.
