  • It's 2017 and I just discovered this page. I've been reading my Dad's letters to me from the 1990s, a time when he was facing retirement, but looking for smaller jobs than an estimator for construction jobs. I did not know he took income tax classes in Canada to pick up some extra money while being retired in Canada, My Dad was a communicator and held nothing back no matter if the news was good, neutral, personal. He was honest. I miss not spending more time together. Geography kept us apart. He loved to travel. Thanks to my father, I have seen most of the United States and Canada some of Europe. I am a communicator and a traveler like my Dad. We moved a lot growing up. We moved from Montana to Canada to Seattle to Phoenix, back to Montana and back to Phoenix before I was out of high school. I am grateful for that experience because it made me a well rounded person, like I'm sure my father wished of me. My Dad had a lot of hard times, but he was a survivor and so am I. Thank you Dad. - Posted by: Patrice Ponath (Daughter) on: Feb 06, 2017

  • Dad was born of Alma and Sidney Otto Ponath. He has 5 children. Dad knew something about everything. He was bright, colourful and ambitious. He laughed from his belly. And helped raise 7 orphans which were family to him. He worked building the infrastucture of Alaska during the 1960s. He was an adventurer and walked a path of his own. His Grandfather was one of the pioneering preachers of Western Montana. My father is deeply missed. - Posted by: Sidney Ponath (Family) on: Aug 06, 2010
