In her final hours she was surrounded by her two children, Christopher and Nicole, the joys of her life, and many friends. She was predeceased by her husband Herman. Dorian was born in Barbados, February 19, 1947, immigrated to England in 1968, where she completed her nursing and midwifery training in 1974. She and her husband then set across the Atlantic and arrived in Canada in 1976. Dorian and Herman spent their first two years in Brandon, then moved to Winnipeg where Dorian lived until her death. Dorian retired from Victoria General Hospital in 2002 after 24 years of employment. She served in many different roles, however Obstetrics was her first love. She dedicated most of her time to Obstetrical nursing care. Dorian's love for her profession did not stop at retirement, as she took a position at Women's Hospital, L D and FBP, where she worked until she was diagnosed with cancer in 2004. Dorian enjoyed travelling and was an avid tennis fan. She was an active member of Church of The Rock and spent a lot of her spare time involved in church activities. Dorian was an outgoing and loving person who enjoyed spending time with her friends. She was a caring, humuorous, and understanding woman whose presence will be deeply missed by all those who knew her. Dorian leaves to mourn her children, Christopher and Nicole; her mother Florence; father Edwin; sisters, Gwennie and Claudette (Barbados); brother Stephen (England); and many nieces, nephews and cousins throughout the Caribbean and North America. The family would like to thank friends and members of Church of The Rock for their support and the nurses, doctors and support staff at Victoria General Hospital Oncology, Health Sciences Centre GD6, Hopital Sacre Coeur (Montreal) and the Palliative Care Unit at St. Boniface General Hospital. Dorian was my "big sister" during an "Ashes to Beauty" course at Church of the Rock. She was very loving and wise and a great mentor. I wish her "God's speed" to her new home with Jesus! There is a new angel in heaven! - Posted by: Kim Routledge-Blondal, RN, BN (Acquaintance) on: Nov 15, 2005

Although I am many miles away from Winnipeg, the memories of your mother are not far from my mind. I worked with her at the Vic for many years and was her next door neighbour on Unit 2. I dearly remember her contagious laugh and wit. I am sorry for your loss. - Posted by: sharon helgason (Friend) on: Nov 08, 2005
