PETER FALK GOERTZEN The family of Peter Falk Goertzen wishes to announce his peaceful passing in Steinbach, MB at the Rest Haven Nursing Home at the age of 93. He will be lovingly remembered by his son, Joe of Akron, Ohio and daughter, Helene of Winnipeg, MB; four grandchildren, their spouses; four great-grandchildren; one brother and one sister. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Helena in 1997 after 64 years of marriage; his five brothers and one sister. Peter was born in 1912, in Morse, SK, the eldest of nine children. His family moved to Mexico in 1923, where he met his wife and where both their children were born. They returned to Canada in 1952 and settled on a farm in Roseau River, MB. He also worked for the Manitoba Department of Highways for many years until his retirement in 1977. He especially treasured those years afterwards. Peter was known as an honest, hardworking man willing to take on any challenge that came his way and loved to tell the stories of his many experiences. A funeral service will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Drive in Steinbach on Tuesday, January 3, 2006, 11:00 a.m., with interment at Sommerfeld Church Cemetery in Stuartburn.
