IRENE LAGIMODIERE (nee VERMETTE) April 12, 1928 - January 1, 2006 Suddenly, at home, on Sunday, January 1, 2006, our dearly beloved mother and grand-mother passed away at the age of 77 years old. Irene was predeceased by her beloved husband, James, on July 23, 2005; her parents, Philomene (nee Gladu) in 1963 and Auguste Vermette in 1986; sister Estelle Tellier in 2002; and brothers, John in 1942, Don in 1968, and Lucien (Lou) in 1999. Her memory will be cherished by her daughter Shirley Mae and her husband Dave Loewen, and grandson James; two brothers, Ted of Winnipeg, and Tony of Cochenour, ON; sisters, Augustine Abraham, Elsie (Aurel) Tellier, Frances (Pete) Lemay, all of Winnipeg; sister-in-law Claudette Lagimodiere and brother-in-law Norm (Barb) Lagimodiere; and numerous nieces and nephews. Irene was born April 12, 1928 in St. Pierre, MB. Irene met and married her sweetheart, James Lagimodiere in Lorette, MB on August 30, 1952. They were inseparable, and spent their 53 years of marriage in Lorette treasuring their life together. Irene was a gifted school teacher and taught for many years. Irene loved children and is remembered by many of her students as their favourite teacher . Her wisdom, patience, and remarkable spirit will be missed. Irene enjoyed gardening and her beautiful flowers and vegetable garden were evidence of her talents. Bowling was one of her favourite pastimes and she always looked forward to this time with her bowling friends at Dakota. She also loved hockey and spent countless hours in arenas watching her grandson play hockey. Irene loved spending special times with her family and these memories will be held dearly. She was a kind, giving mother and grandmother, and her greatest gift was her love for her family. She was so incredibly proud of her grandson who is following in her footsteps and becoming a teacher. To honour Irene's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date. Irene will be laid to rest with her loving husband in Woodridge, MB. You will be deeply missed, Irene, Maman, Memere. Nous ne t'oublierons jamais. The Desjardins Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements, 233-4949 or toll free at 1-888-233-4949.
