COLUMBINA (BINA) JOHANNA SCHUTE (nee KORTEN) With sadness in our hearts, the family of Bina Schute, announces her passing on Tuesday, February 14, 2006 at Riverview Health Centre, after a lengthy illness at the age of 73. Bina will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her husband of 49 years Adolf; daughters, Cornelia Jackson (Andrew), Helga Malcolm (David); and son Wilfried Schute (Barb Olson); and her five grandchildren, Bryce, Andrea, Travis, Lindsay and Naffi. She is also survived by her sisters, Margaret Fennen, Agnes Kleinhaus (Betz); brother Hermann Korten (Agnes); as well as her in-laws, Helga Korten, Anni Schute, Antonia Schute, Heinz (Mia) Schute; and many nieces and nephews and relatives in Germany. Bina, was predeceased by her parents, Columbina and Johann Korten; her brother Bernhard; and brothers-in-law Wilhelm Schute, Lukas Schute, Hans Schute and Herman Fennen. Bina was born in Borgermoor, Germany on July 22, 1932. In 1956, she immigrated with her husband-to-be and settled in Winnipeg. They were married at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church on August 4, 1956. While raising their three children, Bina worked part-time from home for many years as a seamstress. Once the children were older, she worked at the Garden City Safeway Bake Shop until her retirement. Bina enjoyed many happy and treasured moments with family and friends. She was a member of the German Kolping Society of Winnipeg for many years. Bina enjoyed playing cards at the families' Spruce Bay cottage, bingo, soccer, gardening, bowling and spending time with her grandchildren. She always looked forward to her trips back to Germany to spend memorable time with family and friends. The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Seven Oaks General Hospital and Riverview Health Centre for their care and compassion. At the family's request, cremation has taken place. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 17 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Mountain Avenue and Andrews Street with Rev. Fr. Diosdado Parrenas officiating. Interment will follow at Glen Eden. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society, CancerCare Manitoba or the Riverview Health Centre Foundation. In tears we saw you sinking. We watched you fade away. You suffered much in silence You fought so hard to stay - You faced your task with courage, Your spirit did not bend, But still you kept on fighting Until the very end. God saw you getting tired When a cure was not to be, So He put his arms around you And whispered, Come to Me . So when we saw you sleeping So peaceful and free from pain, We could not wish you back To suffer that again. We will always love and remember you! Your Family CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
