Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGERALD WAYNE FIDLER March 6, 1942 to February 14, 2006 Wayne passed away peacefully surrounded by those that cared the most about him; daughter Susan, son Rod and daughter-in-law Karla. He will be deeply missed by them as well as by his grandsons, Braden and Kole. Wayne was born in Portage la Prairie to Robert Fidler and Hazel Reid Fidler. He was raised in Poplar Point and graduated from Portage Collegiate Institute. He then held various positions at Manitoba Hydro, Inter-City Gas and TransCanada Pipelines. Following retirement in 1998, Wayne resided in Lockport and pursued his passion of car racing full-time. He enjoyed not only the racing but also the challenge and skills required in preparing a competitive race car. Wayne also took pride and satisfaction in the fact that he was able to do so alongside Rod. He was a fascinating and energetic person with interests including family, cars, aircraft, snowmobiles, literature and pets. He made friends easily and was a well respected man who was generous, a great teacher and held himself to high standards. Wayne's influence, guidance and great sense of humour will be missed by his family and numerous friends. The family would like to extend sincere thanks to the Grace Hospital staff for their excellent care and compassion. Donations may be made to the Grace Hospital, 300 Booth Dr., Winnipeg, MB R3J 3M7. A service will be held on Monday, February 20 at 10:00 at Klassen Funeral Home, 1897 Henderson Hwy., Winnipeg. A private family interment will be held at a later date.
