DAPHNE EDWARDS On Saturday, February 25, 2006, Daphne Edwards passed away peacefully at the Victoria General Hospital in Winnipeg. Daphne was born in Southend-on-Sea, England, on September 22, 1928. Daphne came to Winnipeg in 1962. She was employed with the Province of Manitoba, working in the Legislative Building as a secretary for various Ministers. She retired in 1987 after 25 years of service. Upon her arrival she became an avid traveller, touring Canada coast to coast and visiting many locations in the United States. She also regularly made time to go back across the pond to visit family, friends and favourite locations in Britain. A lifelong passion for music included performing in many productions for the Manitoba Opera Association and extensive Royal Conservatory piano training, enabling her to become a music teacher. She especially enjoyed many years of season tickets for the Winnipeg Symphony. After retiring, Daphne brought a Welsh terrier named Meg into her life. This wonderful companion and Daphne were inseparable, exploring many places together and enjoying annual trips to Kenora and Victoria. Daphne was a member of many clubs, including the Winnipeg Canoe Club and visitation trips for the elderly with the Winnipeg Humane Society. She is survived by her sister Joan Hunt, niece Vivian Heap and nephew Andrew Law. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 4 at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave., Aubrey Street entrance. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society or to the Manitoba Opera Association. neil bardal inc. 949-2200
