ABRAM C. (ABE) DE FEHR Abram C. (Abe) De Fehr passed away peacefully in Kelowna on March 8, 2006 at the age of 96 years. Abe was born May 12, 1909 in Millerovo, Russia and moved to Canada with his family in 1925, settling in Manitoba. His father started an importing business in Winnipeg, which later became C.A. De Fehr Sons Ltd., with branches in Regina, Saskatoon, Calgary and Edmonton. Abe, along with his two brothers and one brother-in-law, worked throughout his career developing and managing this successful family business. In 1931 Abe married Velma Litz. This marriage produced four children. After 62 years of marriage Velma passed away. He later married Marion (Mary) Wieser in Vancouver, moving to Kelowna in 1996. Abe and Mary shared twelve wonderful years together. Abe is survived by his son Cornelius (Fresno, CA) and three daughters: Velma Dyck Schrock (Fresno, CA) Gretta Isaac (Winnipeg, MB) and Alice Pauls (Pensacola, FL); plus eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his loving wife Mary Wieser De Fehr, her three children, Eric Wieser (Vancouver), Cam Wieser (Kelowna), and Lynn Pihl (Kelowna), four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Besides being a successful businessman, Abe maintained a strong Christian faith throughout his life and always had a word of encouragement or support for family and friends alike. He was truly blessed with a full and spiritually rich life. Funeral service will be held at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Rd, Kelowna, BC, on Thursday, March 16, at 10:00 am.
