ANNE SINGER On April 7, 2006 at the Seven Oaks Hospital, Anne Singer passed away peacefully. She is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, David; her sons, Earl (Mimi) and Herb (Myrna); her grandchildren, Leslie (Sheldon Glow), Marnie (Darren Law), Fay-Lynn (Eric Muraven), Sheryl (Kevin Segall), Marla (Adam Levene) and Marshall; her great-grandchildren, Josh, Sari, Justin, Ethan, Hayden and Zachary; her brother, Norman Tolchinsky (Dolly) and sister-in-law, Zelma. She was predeceased by her brothers, Joe, Sam and Fred. The oldest of five children, Anne, daughter of Louis and Tzivia Tolchinsky, survived a terrifying escape from Russia with her mother and brother. Anne was a graduate of St. John's High School; she was very athletic playing softball and tennis in her younger years. She and Dave spent the first few years of their marriage farming on the Singer family farm in Saskatchewan. They worked all their married life side by side on the farm, in their grocery store and small restaurants and at home. She also worked for many years at Eaton's. After retiring, she was always proud of the fact that she had volunteered at the Seven Oaks Hospital when it first opened 25 years ago. Anne had a keen sense of family and responsibility to her younger brothers and to her own children and grandchildren. She instilled in her family a strong sense of values and traditions with her own actions. No distance was too great for Anne and Dave to travel to visit their grandchildren and attend lifecycle celebrations for extended family members. Anne was so happy to have lived to see the birth of five great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter. The family would like to give special thanks to the wonderful staff on the third floor (Units 1, 2 and 3) at the Seven Oaks Hospital. We deeply appreciate their kindness and compassion.
