ALETHEA (LETH) PARSONS September 3, 1912 - May 2, 2006 Peacefully, on May 2, 2006 Leth passed away at the Grace Hospital with her family by her side. She was predeceased by her parents Oliver and Maude Hallman, and her loving husband Robert in 1990. Leth will be lovingly remembered by her children, Bob (Norma) and Linda (Paul) Hover of England; grandchildren, Sharon (Paul) Ryan, Jim Parsons, Stephen (Vicki) Hover of Wales, Liz Hover of Winnipeg, and David Hover of England; great-grandchildren Jonathan Ryan, Christopher Ryan, and Joseph Hover. She will also be missed by her dearest friend Lillian Goodie McLennan. Leth was born and lived all her life in Winnipeg. Leth loved music. In her late teens she won The Rose Bowl at the Winnipeg Musical Festival. Leth studied voice under W.H. Anderson, sang as soloist at Greenwood United Church and at Augustine United Church. In the late forties she was choir director at St. Paul's United Church, and sang for many years with the CBC Choristers. In 1950, she was asked to be contralto soloist at St. Andrews River Heights United Church, where she remained as soloist until 1974. Leth worked for several years with her husband at the C.N.I.B. as social director. Leth loved spending time with Goodie. They have been best friends for 70 years, and have spent the last seven years visiting each other daily. She loved her many winters in Florida. She cherished her friendships made, and carried on her singing at her church there. Leth was a true Lady, she adored her family, and her sweet disposition will be missed by all. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Boniface Hospital 4E, Grace Hospital Emergency, and Charleswood Care Centre for all their care and compassion. A memorial service will be held on Monday May 8, at 1:00 p.m. at Westworth United Church, 1750 Grosvenor Avenue, with Reverend Mona Denton officiating, a reception will follow. A family interment will take place at a later date.
