S. ELIZABETH (BETTY) FAVEL April 7, 1941 - May 12, 2006 It is with great sadness that Betty's sisters Rachael, Melvina and Lois announce her passing. Betty slipped away peacefully at her residence in Lower Sackville (Halifax) NS, in the presence of Dennis, Melvina and Karin RN, after an eight year battle with Alzheimers and Epilepsey. Besides her sisters, Betty is survived by several nephews, nieces and cousins and was predeceased by her parents and two sisters. Betty was born and raised in Petersfield, MB and lived there until 1982 when she moved with Mom to Selkirk. She attended Arc Industries where she had many friends but later, due to failing health, relocated to Nova Scotia to live with Melvina and Dennis. While there she received tremendous support and care from Dr. Cindy Marshall, who made visits to see her at home as well as her dentists Dr. Susan Paynter and Dr. Gary Clarke who provided her with dental supplies and home visits. Her nurse Jeanne, RN and her staff, Lisa, Karin and Alanna, were a great comfort and helped Betty stay at home. We also have a special thanks to Karin, RN for her excellent foot care, Evelyn for keeping her hair trimmed and Isabel who made sure any necessary sewing needed for Betty's comfort in bed or while eating, were met. Also special thanks to home support workers Tracey, Charlotte, and Liz as well as her special care worker Christine and Reverend Bob Chapman for prayers at home and Reverend Donna Lovelace who sang hymns to Betty. Last but not least, we would like to thank Betty's Social Worker Liz McKenna and former workers Ed Price and Phil Vaness of Manitoba and Doreen who was like a sister to Betty. You all gave us great support and strength when we needed it most. We have a great appreciation for our family and very special friends without whom, we could not have made it through such a difficult time. Melvina wishes to thank Dennis for his love and support throughout Betty's illness. She stole his heart completely and she absolutely loved him. Betty loved life, was extremely generous with her smiles and loved everyone around her. She will be missed by all. We will always love you and our hearts will have a great void for the rest of our lives. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, May 16 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk, MB. Funeral Service will be held the following day at 3:00 p.m. also in the chapel with Rev. Ken DeLisle officiating. Burial will be at St. George's Cemetery, Wakefield following the service. Anyone wishing, may make donations to the Mental Health, Alzheimers or Epilepsy Societies. Rest in Peace Little Sister Atlantic Funeral Homes (Lower Sackville) and Gilbart's Funeral Homes (Selkirk) are in charge of arrangements.
