Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOSE PAULO FURTADO Peacefully on May 18, 2006, Jose passed away at Seven Oaks Hospital. Jose is survived by his loving wife Laura Teixeira; children, Jose (Odette) Furtado, Maria (Henry) Carvalho, Juvenal (Isabel) Furtado, Rosa (Nevio) Stroligo, Yvonne (Manuel) Lopes, Leanor Yurkowski (Gordon), Rick (Filomena) Furtado and Mario Furtado (Gina); grandchildren, Nicole, Laurie, Jessica, Nicholas, Daniel, Damien, Joel, Michelle, Ryan, Dustin and Rebecca; great-grandson Jakob; and numerous other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Jose Furtado (Rainha) and Ambrozina Paulo. Jose was born on November 13, 1921 in Ribeira Grande, Acores, Portugal and immigrated to Canada in May 1957. He worked for CNR and Greb Shoes, retired from Motorways Security Storage Shop in 1984. Gathering with family on special occasions was what Jose enjoyed the most. He loved his place of birth, Ribeira Grande, as he did his adopted country. He loved nature and soccer matches, as he had been an avid soccer player in his youth. Jose took great pride in his children's and grandchildren's accomplishments. His smile will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank Seven Oaks Hospital Units U4 and U5 for their care and compassion. Prayers will be said on Friday, May 19 at 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 20 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 181 Austin St. N. with Rev. Fr. Jose Eduardo Medeiros as celebrant. Entombment to follow at Assumption Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
