WILLIAM A. MILES Peacefully on Friday, May 19, 2006, Bill passed away in his home. He is survived by his sons, Jason (Sara) and Colin; his parents, William and Clara Miles; his brothers and sister, Brian, Blaine, Gerry (Carol), Tony, and Donna; nephews, Riley and Bradley; and niece Kalie. Bill was born April 16, 1947, in Wainwright AB. He grew up in the St. James area of Winnipeg. After studying programming and business at Red River College, he began a career in systems operations in Winnipeg. He married Carol Hoeppner in 1977, and had two sons, Jason (1978) and Colin (1980). Bill loved exploring his Scottish roots. He was a member in several Highland Bagpipe Bands: The Cadet Pipe Band, The Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders of Canada, The St. Andrew's Society Pipe Band, and the Lord Selkirk Boy Scout Pipe Band as a member, instructor and band parent. He travelled to Scotland several times and thoroughly embraced his Celtic heritage. Bill loved travelling, recreation, relaxing, reading, and trying new foods. Bill valued and cherished his family, loving time spent with them. He poured out his life for his sons, fully embracing and supporting them in all they did. We will miss you dearly. You were a great friend, and we'll always remember you. There will be a celebration of Bill's life on Saturday, May 27 at St. James Presbyterian, 1476 Portage Ave. at 10:00 a.m. Viewing will be before the service at 9:15 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made on Bill's behalf to the Lord Selkirk Boy Scouts Pipe Band, 46 Burgess Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3T 3S7.
