Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDGAR FREDERICK SWAIN, MBE Edgar Frederick Swain, MBE, born in Winnipeg, MB, February 5, 1917, passed away peacefully May 11, 2006 with his beloved wife of 64 years, Mildred at his side. Edgar was predeceased by his brother Douglas and is survived by his sister Doris Babcock (nee Swain). He will be missed and fondly remembered by his many family members, daughter Shauna, her husband Corrie, their children, Chris and Cynthia, spouses Tricia and Gordon, as well as great- grandchildren, Owen, Timothy Edgar and Joshua, as well as son Stuart, his wife Jean, their children, Kelly and Roxane, partner Jen and spouse Jean Paul, as well as grandchild Ayla. Uncle Ed was always a very special person to his brother's four children. His niece Shelley Swain and nephews, Graham, Grant and Stafford Swain remember him starting with the Wildwood Park days of the 1940's and 1950's, later at the joint-family cottage at Dorothy Lake, and at the many family visits that have occurred through the years. Edgar served in the army RCASC regiment during the Second World War, where his theatre of service included the United Kingdom and Continental Europe with the 4th Armoured Division. He rose to the rank of Captain and was inducted as a Member of the British Empire by King George VI. After the war Edgar went on to a career with Dominion Motors in Winnipeg, retiring as Vice President and Corporate Secretary of their affiliate, Royal Canadian Securities Co. Ltd. Mildred and Ed have enjoyed a wide range of friends while raising their children in Winnipeg's Wildwood Park and later while retired in Victoria. More recently they located to Long Lake Chateau in Nanaimo. Edgar will be remembered for his caring gentle disposition and the love of his wife, family, friends and Country. Interment took place May 17, 2006 Hately Memorial Gardens in Victoria, BC.
