Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWALTER (WALLY) JAMES NORQUAY It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving husband, father and grandfather, Wally Norquay who ended his eight month uphill battle with congestive heart failure peacefully in his sleep with his family at his side on Sunday, June 4, 2006 at age 70. Wally will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Joan of 48 years; his children, Sharon, Jim, Linda and Donna (Dan); and grandchildren, Lisa, Nicole, Ryan and Brock. Also cherishing his memory are his many good friends, neighbours and relatives. He was predeceased by his father Jim in 1968 and mother Lil in 1993. Wally was born February 23, 1936 in Winnipeg and grew up in the West End not only playing hockey and lacrosse but making life long friendships. He spent many years curling at both the Thistle and Grain Exchange Curling Clubs and golfing at Breezy Bend. Wally became a Journeyman electrician in 1957 and after working many years with McCaine Electric, he started his own company, W. Norquay Electric Ltd. in 1980. He was also a member of No. 4 Legion. Dad was always a hard worker but he also knew how to live life and enjoy himself. He decided in 1967 that the family would take up camping. Some of the happiest times of his life were spent with family and friends at Blue Lake Provincial Park where he enjoyed camping, fishing and meeting new people each and every year for the past 38 years. Blue Lake won't be the same without him. For the past 15 years, Mom and Dad were also fortunate to have been able to spend a couple of months each winter in either Florida or Arizona. Special thanks to everyone who took the time to visit Wally over the past eight months. He truly enjoyed the company. Thanks also to the staff on B5 at St. Boniface Hospital for their gentle and compassionate care. A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 8 at 2:00 p.m. at Sturgeon Creek United Church, 207 Thompson Dr. with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the charity of your choice. CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME AND RECEPTION CENTRE 885-9715

I'm saddened to learn of Wally's death. I saw he and Joan on a visit to Canada in 2004 where they, as always, welcomed me into their home (along with my three young children) with open arms. Wally was a fantastic person. I spent a great deal of time at their home in the late 70's and early 80's, and Wally and Joan became like second parents to me. I still call Joan "Mom" whenever I see her. Wally was a good man, a good father, and a good friend. I will miss him dearly. - Posted by: Charlie Pritchard (Friend) on: Jul 23, 2006
