Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILHELM SIGMUND SCHMIDT February 8, 1915 - May 30, 2006 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Willy Schmidt on Tuesday, May 30, 2006 at the Victoria Hospital Wilhelm was predeceased by both parents, all siblings and most recently a nephew. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Olga, daughter Lucy (Kim), son Alvin and granddaughter Stasha as well as nieces and nephews and their families in Winnipeg and Germany. Wilhelm was born in Latvia in 1915 and immigrated to Canada in 1951 where he met and married his wife Olga. Willy and Olga had two children, Lucy and Alvin. In his early years he worked construction and later was a machinist at Motorcoach. Willy loved the outdoors, camping and physical work and was happiest sun-tanning or puttering around his workshop. Willy retired at the age of 65 and he and Olga moved to Cloverdale, BC and started a new life. He walked several hours a day and enjoyed tanning in his large backyard, admiring his fruit trees. With wife Olga, he returned to Winnipeg to be closer to his only grandchild in 1989. He suffered a series of strokes in 1998 which reduced his mobility and forced him to use a walker or wheelchair. The family would like to thank each and every person who visited Willy in the hospital, it meant so much to both him and his family. Towards the end we know it wasn't easy. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 10 at 10:00 a.m. in Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. THOMSON IN THE PARK FUNERAL HOME AND CEMETERY 1291 MCGILLIVRAY BLVD (BETWEEN PEMBINA WAVERLEY) 925-1120 PLEASE BRING A TIN FOR THE BIN HELP US SUPPORT WINNIPEG HARVEST
