GORDANA ORAVEC It is with deep sadness that the family and friends announce the tragic passing of Gordana Oravec on Sunday, June 18, 2006. Gordana's memory will be forever cherished by loving husband Bozidar; sons, Stevan and Nebojsa (Jen); father Djuro; brother Rudi and family; many cousins, other family members and friends. Gordana was born on June 22 1956, in Skopje, Macedonia. Shortly after her birth her family moved back to Osijek, Croatia where she grew up. Grodana was especially close to her younger brother Rudi with whom she has shared many wonderfull memories. Soon after she met her true love Bozidar, it was clear to them that they would spent the rest of their lives together. They got married and had two boys, Stevan and Nebojsa. In the early 1990s, as the war in Croatia was taking off, Gordana and Bozidar made a hard decision to leave their home country, and come to Canada with not much more than just each other and their children. It was a difficult time in their life. They did not speak English, had no friends and were so far away from those they loved. But, Gordana was always positive that everything would work out. They worked hard, and they made a good, warm home for their boys. To her boys, she was more than a caring mother. She was the greatest friend, a source of wisdom, compassion and comfort that you could ask for. Gordana and Bozidar's undying love, mutual respect and admiration for each other, has inspired many. Gordana always lit up any room she walked into. She brought happiness to so many, always gave so much to others, and put everybody else before herself. Gordana loved entertaining friends and family in her home, where there was always a delicious smell of wonderful baking lingering throughout. During her working years, Gordana has made many friends, touched many hearts at the Canadian Wheatboard and later at Sonoco where she worked for the last eight years. She will be remembered by all for her strong will, determination and unconditional love for her children and husband. She will be greatly missed and forever cherished in our hearts. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
