Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMRS. ERNA SCHINK On June 17, 2006, at the Grace Hospital, our beloved mother, Erna Schink, aged 90, after several battles with cancer, went home to be with her Lord. Leaving to cherish her memory are her children, Hildegard Muth, Ewald Jabs (Lydia), Edmund Jabs (Alma), Elfriede Reschke, stepson Rudy Schink and their families. She was predeceased by her first husband, Samuel Jabs, and by her second husband John Schink. Our Mom was born May 29, 1916 in Skalow, Russia. In 1934, she married Samuel Jabs. From this union came four children, two sons and two daughters. Toward the end of the war, she managed to get her immediate and extended family to West Germany. We settled near Hanover and lived there until 1952. In September of that year we immigrated to Canada and settled in Winnipeg. In 1970 she married John Schink. Mom had a hard life. Despite enduring hardships, disappointments, poverty and pain in her early years, she enjoyed life and felt very blessed the fifty-four years she lived in Winnipeg. She had boundless energy. She believed in hard work and was sad when she had to retire at the age of 72. Mom had dedicated her life to the well-being of her children. Her loyal and altruistic nature was appreciated by those who knew her. She would naturally put others, especially her children, first. It was always a joy to visit with her and share time, laughter and food. She took pleasure in being with and spoiling the grandchildren, and she loved feeding and caring for the animals. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Her passing has left a big void in our lives. We miss her dearly. She was committed to the church and faithfully attended its services and functions. We thank the nurses and staff of the ICU and 3-South ward of Grace Hospital for their attention and gentle care of our Mom. If so desired, donations in her memory may be made to India Mission or Camp Nutimik. The funeral service will be held on Friday, June 30, at 10:00 a.m. at Mission Baptist Church, 776 Sargent Ave. Interment will follow in the Brookside Cemetery. Viewing will be held from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 29 at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main St. and also prior to the service. FRIENDS FUNERAL SERVICE 2146 Main Street 339-5555
