J. WESLEY PHIPPEN July 13, 1936 - June 23, 2006 With sadness we announce the passing of our father, John Wesley Phippen, peacefully in his sleep at the Victoria General Hospital at the age of 69. Wes was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth Morse, and sister Geraldine Moe. He is survived by his four children (Loraley, Burke and Todd Phippen and Nichole Blachford), five grandchildren, six step-children (Todd, Dale, Cathlynn, Drew, Kim and Brooks) and numerous step-grandchildren. Born in Winnipeg, Wes grew up in the family general store in Clarkleigh, Manitoba. At 18, he worked for a summer inspecting fishing boats on Lake Winnipeg, and then for a year surveying highways before accepting a job with the Natural Resources Branch of the Province of Manitoba. He worked as a surveyor and later as a Technical Engineering Officer and was intensively involved with flood control throughout the southern part of the province for much of his 36-year career. The family wishes to extend deepest thanks to the staff of 2N at Victoria General Hospital for their compassionate care. A small memorial will be held by family members.
