JIM NAGASAKA April 1, 1925 - June 22, 2006 Jim Nagasaka passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2006 at Grace Hospice. He is survived by son, Gary, daughter-in-law Sue, granddaughter Andrea, grandson, Dallas, and great-grandchildren Damian, and Jessie; daughter, Gail, son-in-law Mark, granddaughters, Kelly, and Tracy; brothers, George, Reo and Kenro, sisters Yoshie and Harue both of Japan, Bobby and wife Satomi, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Jim was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Irene, father, Kamakichi, mother, Itsu, and brother Dick. Jim retired in January 1989 after a 37 year career with Silpit Industries. He was a longtime resident of St. Vital with the basement of Crofton Bay being the site of lively crib tournaments as he was an avid crib player and enjoyed entertaining friends and family. He was a devoted golfer at both the Canoe Club and Niakwa Golf and Country Club. Later, Jim coordinated the men's weekly senior golf at the Windsor Park Golf Course and was a long time volunteer at the annual Golden Falcon Golf Tournament. He was known for his generosity to others and scrumptious baking. Jim was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to all who knew him. He will be forever missed. Memorial service will be Thursday, June 29, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (south of the Royal Canadian Mint). A gathering of family and friends will follow in the Glen Lawn Reception Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim's memory to The Grace Hospice, in care of Grace Hospital Foundation, 300 Booth Drive, Winnipeg, MB R3J 3M7.
