ALICE CLASEN (nee PEKRUL) Gracefully, on Monday, July 3, 2006 at the St. Boniface Hospital, Alice Clasen passed away with her family by her side, after a courageous battle with breast cancer at the age of 83 years. Alice was born July 31, 1922 in Jasien, Poland and came to Canada with her husband and daughter in February of 1951 to start a new life. Gramma was the heart and soul of our family. She was happiest when surrounded by her grandchildren and her many friends. Gramma especially enjoyed cooking for her family as well as knitting, gardening, playing cards, golfing and bowling. Alice is survived by her husband William, daughter Ruth (Ron), grandchildren, Darren, Karen (Bruce), Brenda, son Ron (Charlene), grandchildren, Dawn (Bernard), Kristy (Reed), Michael (Shauna). She was predeceased by her parents, Emma and August Pekrul and her brother Arthur. For many years Mom and Dad enjoyed their Hobby Farm at Riverton where they entertained their many friends with food and laughter. Mom and Dad loved to travel and did so for many years. They travelled to Germany, Mexico, Cuba, Dominican, but Hawaii was always her favourite spot to be in the winter. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of the St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit for the excellent care given to our mother.
