ARTHUR FANSLAU It is with sadness we announce that on June 29, 2006, Arthur Fanslau, 87, passed away. He was predeceased by his siblings, Olga, Edmunde, Anna and Oskar. He leaves to mourn his sister Ruth, brother Alfred, wife Edith, daughter Patti, son and daughter-in-law, Ingo and Karyn (Pinch), his grandchildren, Anja, Kira and Anders, and many nieces and nephews. Born February 1919 in Latvia, dad left home at an early age to apprentice as a merchant marine and earn his ship's engineering papers. Years of travelling the seven seas ultimately led him to Brazil, where he worked as an engineer from 1952 to 1958. In 1959, he married Edith and they emigrated from Germany to Winnipeg. Dad achieved his Canadian Power Engineering certificate and retired as Chief Power Engineer from the Victoria General Hospital in 1985. This gave him opportunity to spend more time at the cottage we had built and that he so loved, and to pursue golfing and fishing. Cremation has taken place and a memorial announcement will be made. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
