WILLIAM (BILL) GALLWEY April 16, 1958 - June 16, 2006 Peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer Bill has passed away. In keeping with Bill's wishes a cremation has taken place. He was predeceased by his father Allan in 1976. Bill is survived by his sons, Eric (Trish) and Gary (Kathleen) and also by his mother June and his sister Julie (Rene) and his niece Janice, also by many other family members too numerous to mention but not forgotten. Bill graduated from Churchill High in 1976. He worked for the Winnipeg Free Press as a senior district manager. He later went into the trucking industry and worked for Direct Express, formerly Canada Messenger. Later Bill went to work for Merit trucking and continued till his illness in 2005 prevented him from continuing. Bill in his early teen years was a member of the Winnipeg Chapter No. 1 of the Masonic Demolay. He was a proud scout leader and an active force for the 1st St. Norbert scouting group for many years. Bill loved his time at the cabin at Grand Beach and spent many happy times there with family and friends. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the Scott family (Evan (Scottie) Debbie, Alex and Mike) for opening their home and hearts to Bill and the loving and compassionate care given to Bill during his illness. A celebration of Bill's life with us will be held on July 15, 2006 at the Eagles Club, 3459 Pembina Hwy. from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. If friends so desire in lieu of flowers donations can be made for a scholarship fund to be set up in Bill's name for the St. Norbert Collegiate Apprenticeship Program. Donations can be sent in care of the Bill Gallwey Scholarship Fund at the Vantis Credit Union, 3525 Pembina Hwy. R3V 1L7.
