EDNA DOREEN PETERSON (nee ROBERTSON) Sadly, July 13, 2006 with her family at her side, Edna Doreen Peterson (nee Robertson) passed away peacefully at TriLake Health Centre in Killarney, MB. Doreen was predeceased by daughter Cheryl Anne in 1947 and husband Jim in 1984. She is survived by two daughters and one son, four grandsons and three granddaughters. Daughter Lee, husband Gordon, Duane (Leslie, Kealie, Kohlby), Michael and Carey, daughter Rae, husband Tom, Debb (Scott), Brenda (Rob), son Blaine, wife Paulette, Teague and Kael. Doreen was born June 7, 1918 in Cartwright, MB and was the only daughter to Watt and Edna and sister to Roy Robertson. After completing her education at North Derby and Neelin schools, Doreen went to Morden to train to be a registered nurse. While in training, Doreen met James Anton Peterson. After his return from the Second World War, Jim and Doreen were married June 12, 1946 at Cartwright, MB. Doreen and Jim began their farming careers on a farm north of Morden, MB in 1946. In 1949 they moved to Prairie Grove, MB and in 1961 they moved to Cartwright, MB to farm Doreen's homestead until retirement in 1977 when they moved to Brandon, MB. Doreen belonged to the Harmony Rebecca Lodge No. 38 and was an active volunteer. Her volunteering included CGIT, Sunday School, 4-H, minor sports, curling, golfing and many community events. Family was very important to Doreen and she will be greatly missed by all of them. As per the family's request, in lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Cartwright Foundation or Manitoba Lung Association.
