CHRISTINA JEAN MCNEIL (1914 2006) Jean McNeil (nee Kerr) passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 18, 2006, just shy of her 92nd birthday. Predeceased by her beloved husband, Edmond, of sixty-one years on April 28, 2005, Jean was a unique woman whose passion, beauty, humour and free spirit were expressed in the love of her family, friends, music and the arts. We will all miss the family matriarch who always took a deep interest in everyone around her and was a constant source of wisdom and humour. Jean was a friend to many and one whose spirit of adventure allowed her to keep pace with an ever-changing world. She loved her time at the cottage at Red Rock Lake, Manitoba with her family around her as recently as two weeks ago. She served as a volunteer with the Grace Hospital for over 25 years and was a member of the Khartum Ladies Auxiliary since the early eighties. Jean was a graduate of St. Johns High School and was a member of Knox United Church (Winnipeg) for over sixty years. Jean and Ed enjoyed their neighbours and close friends on Duffield Street where they raised their two sons. She is survived by sons Jim (Wanda) of Calgary; David (Betty) of Winnipeg; grandchildren Jeremy (Cindy) of Calgary; Bryan (Kim) of Winnipeg; Ryan (Saskia) of Edmonton; and Andrew of Calgary; great-grandchildren Parker, Hailey and Dylan; and sister-in-law Marylou of Victoria. Jean moved to the Waverley in 2005 and enjoyed the people and the activities over the last year. The family would like to thank the staff of the Waverley for their care and thoughtfulness towards Jean. A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 24, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson In The Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. Donations may be made in Jean's name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, Cancer Care Manitoba or the Winnipeg Humane Society. Nothing will ever take away The love our hearts hold dear Fond memories will linger every day Remembrance will keep her near THOMSON IN THE PARK FUNERAL HOME AND CEMETERY 1291 MCGILLIVRAY BLVD.
