JOAN GAIL SIMPSON (nee YARMEY) It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Joan Simpson, who died peacefully, after a courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, July 20, 2006, at the age of 62 years. Left with fond memories are her children, Clare Rubin (Steve), Maureen (Desmond Smith), Tzena (Tim Vaughan) and Clifford; grandson Samuel Rubin; four sisters, Angie Charron (Ray) of Ontario, twin sister Jeannette Swystun, Lorraine Turchen (Ken) of Oakbank and Patricia Fahr (William) of Birds Hill; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Joan was predeceased by her loving husband Cliff; and her parents, John and Lillian Yarmey. Our family honours the teachings our parents gave us in the way in which they lived their lives. Together they taught us by example the meaning of family, devotion to one another and the importance of working hard. Mom worked as a candy maker at Pauline Chambers until 1966 when she married Cliff. She then became a homemaker and took great pride in both her work and her family. They moved from Winnipeg to Garson in 1972 with their young family where they lived until Cliff's passing in 2002. Joan was well known for her great cooking, especially her perogies, holupchi, peroshke and rosettes. She was the corner house whose door was always open for friends and family to stop by and have a cup of her delicious coffee. This open door policy continued when she moved into the Nor-Villa Apartments. Mom was part of many extended families and held many special friendships. Some friendships started in grade school, others found along life's long journey. All were treasured. A special thank you to some of mom's closest friends. This wonderful woman gave herself to everything and everyone, her time, love and compassion, understanding and patience. She will be deeply missed, but what she left with each of us, will be cherished forever. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 26 at 10:30 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church, 710 Roanoke St., with Rev. Fr. Owen Steeves presiding. A private family interment will be held in the Garson Cemetery, Garson, MB. A special thank you is extended to those who cared for mom at the St. Boniface General Hospital, especially A6 South and the Palliative Care unit. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Rest in peace until we meet again. Joan's arrangements have been entrusted to the Family Owned Funeral Chapel of: WOJCIK'S ALL BELIEFS FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL CREMATORIUM 897 4665
