Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBERT HAROLD COOPER On July 20, 2006 after a lengthy struggle, our beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away at St. Boniface Hospital. Born in Winnipeg in 1917, Bob (Harold) grew up in Fort Rouge, graduated from Kelvin High School and began work with the CPR as a machinist. At the outbreak of the Second World War, Bob was a member of the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders of Canada. He attended Sandhurst Military College in England and served in Europe as a Lieutenant in the 8th Reconnaissance Regiment. Post war he returned to Winnipeg, married Madeline Wallace (1919-1989) and began a career with the Winnipeg Police Department where he served until his retirement in 1973. During his life Bob enjoyed more than 50 years of playing and teaching drumming. He was a member of several local pipe bands and volunteered to teach many young players. He was a proud member of the Ft. Garry Legion for 53 consecutive years. In his retirement he met and married Vivian Konchak with whom he spent 15 wonderful years. Bob will be loved and remembered by his wife Vivian; son Bob; daughter-in-law Lynn; grandsons Darrell and Blair of Burnaby, BC; stepdaughter Laurie McCullem of Seattle, WA; stepson Jeffery Konchak (Rhonda, Jamie, Krista, Mariah, Levi) of Invermere, BC and many extended family members. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 26 at Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy. # 1 East at Navin Road. Interment will follow in Green Acres Cemetery.
