Date of Passing: Jul 22, 2006
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANNE TKACHYK September 9, 1928 - July 22, 2006 With much sadness the family announces the passing of Anne Tkachyk of St. Catharines, ON at the age of 77. She passed away at Port Colborne Hospital, ON on Saturday, July 22, 2006. Anne (Hanyia) was born on September 9, 1928 at Senkiw, MB to Lena and Wasyl Tkachuk. She was predeceased by her brother Peter July 2002, her mother May 1986 and her father December 1951. She is survived by her brother John of Winnipeg; her sister Marion Mary Maria Murphy of Winnipeg; her sisterin-law Stella Tkachyk of St. Catharines ON; her two nieces, Delores Tkachuk of St. Catharines and Eleanor Tkachuk of Detroit and many cousins, relatives and friends. Anne spent her formative and early teen years at Senkiw before moving to Winnipeg in the mid 1940s where she attended special classes as her energy and health permitted. Shortly before her mother's demise, Anne went to live in St. Catharines with her late brother Peter and sisterin-law Stella, who has given her loving constant care, compassion, comfort and understanding throughout the 20 1/2 years and especially recently her nieces, Delores and Eleanor contributed much time and attention to Anne as their time and energy permitted. Anne left us with many memories, some of which are new to us as we continue to hear different stories from relatives and friends. They are interesting stories suggestive of the depth of Anne's understanding nature of humanity although born with Down's syndrome. She was fun to be with, she loved to visit and have visitors come to see her, she loved to socialize, barely getting home from one visit as she already announced where she wanted to go the next day. Her vocabulary was limited but as family and an understanding society we all provided our best support to make her life easier. If there was anything as family we learned with Anne it was patience , give me time and love me as I am. And we did. Prayers were said on Thursday, July 27 at 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, July 28 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Rosa, MB. Interment to follow in Rosa, MB. Pallbearers will be Ernie Bachewich, Eddie Hendrickson, Maurice Kohut, Ray Rybuck, Bill Slowski and Johnny Tkachuk. In lieu of flowers, those who wish, may make their donations to charities of their choice. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
