MARILYN JOYCE SIMPSON Suddenly on July 21, 2006, Marilyn passed away at her home in Winnipeg. She was born November 2, 1941 in Balmoral, MB. After her schooling in Balmoral and Stonewall, she moved to Winnipeg. Because she loved music and singing, she joined Knox United Church and the church choir. There she made several good friends among them, Vi Comack, who remained a good friend and confidant all her life. On her 60th birthday, she joined the Winnipeg Senior Choir and once again made several good friends. She enjoyed the performances with the choir and the trips they took to entertain the seniors. Although she was a very private person, the friends she made were special friends. She enjoyed her after church lunches with Vi, Bev and Dawne where they had lovely conversation and lots of laughs. Her nephews, niece and great-nephew were a constant source of pride and joy. She never missed a birthday or a wedding and was always interested in what they were doing. Marilyn worked at Talbot Insurance Agency and for many years at the Independent Order of Forresters. She also volunteered at the Knox United Church Food Bank. Marilyn was predeceased by her Dad in 1992 and her Mum in 2004. She is survived by her sister Fay (Chuck) Dunlop; nephew Brian (Kerryn); niece Erin (Steven) Hogg and nephew Jamie; and great-nephew Tyler Hogg. She will be especially missed by her life long friend Vi Comack. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will be held Monday, July 31 at 2:00 p.m. at Knox United Church, 400 Edmonton St., Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, if so desired, donations can be made to the Duval Foundation in care of Knox United Church or the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Manitoba Branch, 730 Taylor Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3M 2K8.
