JONA NORDAL After a lengthy illness, our wife, mom and amma passed away on July 27, 2006. Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband Richard and children, Roxanne (Darcy), Nicole, Paul; Gregory (Pamela), Emily, Bethany; Natalie (Mark), Shae Lynne, Brenna, Meagan. Also remembering her is her mother Olga Johannesson; sister Rosalind (Einar), Eric and Kris; brother-in-law Clifford (Patty), Kirsty, Lindsay; sister-in-law Marlene (Dave) Jonathan and Kristin. Mom was born June 28, 1945 and married Richard on May 30, 1964. They spent all their married life in Geysir, raising their children and farming together. She spent many hours on the combine and looked forward to every harvest; she was such a talented and creative person. Mom had a great love for music and enjoyed singing in the choir and playing the piano for numerous Christmas concerts at the school. She enjoyed knitting during the long winters, where she found time to knit each of us our own afghans. Mom had also been very active in curling and enjoyed the bonspeils and friendships that were created. This very special lady had a very creative side to her. She was an amazing cook, everything she made was the best. Luckily for us she had taught us all to cook without measuring a single item. Mom operated her own furniture business where she would create masterpieces out of nothing. Mom also tried her hand at toll painting, paper toll and ceramics; anything she tried she succeeded in. Our mom had the greenest thumb around. She grew her own forest and inside her personal haven she had the most gorgeous flower garden, which people admired. Mom also had the best memory for everyone's birthdays, anniversary and other special occasions. She also had a good mind for genealogy, and always had great stories of her growing up in Geysir and adventures her and Rosalind would have! We have been left with a lot of really happy memories and will remember all the good times. We all know how much she loved each of us. She was so very proud of all her children and grandchildren and always looked forward to their visits. Jona was predeceased by her dad and brother, Joe and Baldur Palsson, stepfather Thor Johannesson and parents-in-law, Jonas and Maria Nordal. Our family wants to send out a special thank you to the Arborg ambulance and RCMP. Also Dr. Aljafari and Dr. Zabib and the staff at the Arborg hospital. As well as the MacKenzie Funeral Home in care of arrangements. As our mom wished, a private family interment will be taking place at the Geysir cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Arborg Heritage Village in Mom's memory. Any friends wishing to pay their respects are welcome to stop for a coffee after 2:00 p.m. on August 4 at the family farm.
