BRUCE HUGHES Died peacefully in Toronto at age 59 Son of Ruth and Frank Hughes, William Bruce graduated from Kelvin and earned a B. of Comm. at U. of M. and his M.B.A. at York U. His successful career in Marketing and Management was spent in Toronto, Montreal and Atlanta. He was a man of many interests sports, history, genealogy and camaraderie. He traveled widely, in later years mainly to Cuba where he found love with Danay and her son Yeison. Bruce was a long distance runner who completed marathons worldwide in each of the last five decades. That grit and determination equipped him to endure the onslaught of the cancer that invaded his body and his life. Bruce was enthusiastic and opinionated; he never held back from offering advice. Right to the end, he was having a positive effect on people's lives. We are grateful to Bruce's friends in Toronto for their endless support. He is survived by his sister/brother-in-law Janice and Rennie Smith and nephews Ben, Simon and Jordie. A memorial service for a life well lived and reception will be held at Westworth United Church, Grosvenor at Lanark, Friday, August 11, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. following interment at 11:30 a.m. at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage. Ave.

Thinking of you buddy as another cousin of yours who you never got to meet prepares to move to Montreal. Everything is grand but would have been grander with you still around. - Posted by: Graham Todd (Cousin) on: Jul 23, 2025
