Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOUG MILTON HOURIE It is with extreme sadness that we inform you of the sudden passing of Doug Milton Hourie at the age of 66, on Saturday, August 5, 2006, with his wife at his side. Doug was born and raised in Grand Marais, MB before starting a long career with the Canadian National Railway. After retiring, Doug continued to work various jobs. Doug was a longtime resident in Charleswood. He loved his sports, including baseball and curling. Hockey was his favourite and very near and dear to his heart, as he was well-known in the coach community. Doug loved to fish and cherished his yearly June fishing trip with his buddies and his son. Doug will be dearly missed by his family, blended family, friends and fishing buddies. Left to cherish Doug's memory is his wife of 42 years, Nettie (Bergen); his children, Dwayne (Holly) and Colleen (Garrett); and his two beautiful and adored granddaughters, Alyssa and Angelika. Doug's aunt Marge, his brother Marlo and sister Audrey, his sister-in-law Maria and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as many extended family members will mourn his passing. Doug was predeceased by his granny; father Sam and mother Elsie; mother-in-law Agnes; brothers, Gerald and Garry; brother-in-law Abe; and grandson Little G; as well as other extended family members. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 12 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Judes Anglican Church in Grand Marais, MB. Interment of ashes at a later date. A post-memorial gathering will take place in Dougie's backyard at 4:00 p.m. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association through Dryden Community Funeral Home, 249 Grand Trunk Ave., Dryden, ON P8N 2X3.
