GREGG MENEER Peacefully, after a five month struggle with cancer, Gregg passed away at the St. Michael's Centre Hospice in Burnaby, B.C. at the age of 54 years on August 6, 2006. Predeceased by his parents, Harvey and Joye Meneer, Gregg leaves to cherish his memory his brother Brad; sisters, Wanda, Cheryl, Wendy and Jackie and their families; close longtime companion Paulette and Paulette's daughter Tammy and partner Kelly. Gregg was born in Winnipeg and grew up in the West St. Paul area. As a youth he was an avid hockey player and sports enthusiast. He moved to Vancouver in 1973 where he made his home and worked in addictions counseling for many years. He loved his work and his sports especially baseball and football and spent much of his spare time playing, umpiring and coaching baseball in the Vancouver area. Gregg loved to read and do crossword puzzles. Gregg's family would like to thank the doctors and staff of the surgical, oncology and palliative care units at Burnaby General Hospital and St. Michael's Centre Hospice for their kindness, care and compassion towards our brother. He was so grateful to you all. We will miss Gregg's wonderful sense of humor and his positive attitude that continued even in his last days. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service took place in Vancouver in August 10 and as per Gregg's request, a private family interment will occur at a later date. In lieu of flowers, should friends so desire, donations may be sent in Gregg's memory to St. Michael's Centre Hospice, 7451 Sussex Avenue, Burnaby, B.C. V5J 5C2. God saw you getting tired when a cure was not to be, So He placed His arms around you, and whispered Come to Me Until we meet again.
