MARIE-ANNA STEVENSON (nee VERMETTE) Peacefully on Thursday, August 10, 2006, after a brief illness Marie-Anna passed away at the Foyer Valade. She was predeceased by her husbands, Jos Vermette in 1962 and Jos Stevenson in 1972; sisters, Jeanne Audet and Emma Gobeil; brothers, Honoré and Alexandre. Surviving are her brothers, Charlemagne (Dosa), Gérard (Frances); sister Thérèse Proulx and sister-in-law Edith Vermette and an extended family and friends. Marie-Anna was born September 10, 1909 in Otterburne, MB to parents Henri Vermette and Marguerite Gladu and was blessed with health and happiness. With her first husband they owned and operated a small farm then a family restaurant in St. Pierre-Jolys, MB, followed by a revenue home in Winnipeg. Sometime after the passing of Jos Vermette Marie-Anna met another fine gentleman and eventually married her second husband. By 1975 and for the next 28 years she made Chateau Guay her home, a place she cherished very much. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the entire staff at Foyer Valade for their care and compassion Marie-Anna received while being a resident. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Foyer Valade, 450 River Rd., Winnipeg, MB R2M 5M4 or to a charity of one's choice. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 15 at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons St., with viewing at 1:30 p.m. prior to the service.
