Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDWARD JUDSON COATES With heavy hearts, our family announces the passing of Edward Judson Coates (Ted) on June 20, 2006 at Saanich Peninsula Hospital, Sidney, BC. He is survived by two daughters, Helen Pachkowsky of Pine Falls, MB, Kay McKoewn of Oshawa, ON; and son Charles (Buzz) Buchanan of Nanaimo, BC; and will be missed by three generations of grandchildren and many friends. Ted was predeceased by his wife of 40 years, Jessie Mae Coates (Maisie), in June 1982. Ted was born in Treesbank, MB on May 5, 1917, raised in Winnipeg, and after serving with the RCAF during the Second World War, became a bush pilot for Manitoba Government Air Services and later base superintendent for Central Northern Airways in Lac du Bonnet, MB. During the 1960's, based in Selkirk, MB, Ted flew for Lamb Airways and Transair. After retiring to Sidney, BC, he flew Canso water bombers fighting forest fires in BC until his retirement in the late 1970's. The family invites you to join us for a church service and the internment of his ashes at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 20, at Notre Dame du Laus Church in Powerview, MB, followed by a luncheon where friends and family can gather and share memories.
