Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHOWARD LESLIE BOURNS 1936 - 2006 On August 14, 2006 with his wife and son by his side, Howard Leslie Bourns, aged 70, passed away peacefully at the Boundary Trails Health Centre. Howard was born in Cartwright, MB on February 24, 1936. He lived in the Cartwright area with his family until he entered United College in Winnipeg, MB. He began his 25 year career with 3M in 1957. During his years with 3M he was transferred to Fort William (Thunder Bay), Saskatoon, Regina and London, ON. He ended his employment in Winnipeg following his early and untimely stroke in August 1981. He retired to Darlingford, MB in 1983 and subsequently moved to his last home in Morden, MB in 1995. Howard met Patricia in 1957 and they wed on April 12, 1958. Their only son, Robert was born in Regina, SK in 1967. Howard and Robert had a very close relationship and spent many hours together. Howard's outgoing personality and love of life made him many friends and ensured success in his sales career. His devotion to family could not be matched, and after his devastating stroke it troubled him to know that he could not participate as fully as he had in the lives of those he knew and loved. After 25 years of battling the effects of his illness, he began to weaken early this year and the strain became more apparent and frustrating for him. He leaves to mourn, his beloved wife, Patricia (nee Malaniuk), his son, Robert (Diane) and his grandchildren, Megan and Brendan, as well as two brothers, Gordon of Killarney, MB and Hugh of Cartwright, MB. Howard was predeceased by both of his parents, Robert and Violet, as well as one brother Jim. Funeral services were held on Friday, August 18 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cartwright United Church with Rev. Emily Lovell officiating. Interment followed at the Cartwright Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to either the Boundary Trails Health Centre, MRI Fund, P.O. Box 2000, Winkler, MB R6W 1H8 or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald St., Suite 200, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. Two tired eyes are resting, Two willing hands are still; The one who always worked so hard, Is resting in God's will. God saw you getting tired, He knew you needed rest; His garden must be beautiful, He only takes the best. Wiebe Funeral Chapel, Morden In care of arrangements, 822-4744 www.wiebefuneralhomes.com
