DENNIS GODFREY SIMOENS September 12, 1931 August 16, 2006 Following a long, courageous battle with cancer Dennis passed away at the age of 74. He leaves to mourn his most loved and loving wife of 52 years Bernice. Left to cherish his memory are his three children, Linda (Philippe), Alan (Eileen) and John (Marnie) and seven grandchildren, Sean, Dana, Jacob, Kevin, Shane, Tia and Cole; a sister Joan (Barry) and brother Ron (Irene). Dennis was born in St. Boniface in 1931 and continued to live there his entire life. He married in 1954 and raised his children there. Dennis was a dedicated employee of the Manitoba Telephone System for his entire working career of 43 years. Dad was a caring individual who always put the needs of his wife and family first. Always a gentleman, he loved sports (especially baseball). He loved going on holidays and did much travelling with his children and wife. He embraced the world and all it had to offer. A smile and a joke to the end. Dad you're in our heart forever. Dad wished to thank Dr's Brandes and Coates for their care over the last 10 years. Also special thanks to all the nurses and staff at Riverview Centre and especially those on 3E and CD2 where dad made many friends over the last year. Special thanks to good friend and helper Wayne. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., R3E 0V9. A memorial service celebrating Dennis' life will be held Monday, August 21, at 1:00 p.m. in the Coutu family Chapel, 680 Archibald St. Grandpa, this is for you. For the remembrance, and loving too. For always having a smile on your face, For being there always, at any pace. And although you are not near, I still feel in my heart you are here. We thank you for years of happiness, For sharing your golden soul with us, Your memory lingers in our hearts, From which we cherish all parts. In heaven, a new gift lays, Grandpa, this is for you.
