REINE LAVOIE (nee DUFRESNE) It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our treasured mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Surrounded by her family, Reine slipped into the arms of our Lord on August 21, 2006 at 95 years of age. Reine was predeceased by her son, Marcel, her husband Azarie, and grandchild Marcel Lea, all of her siblings, Olivier (Blanche), Leopold (Marie de Liesse), Valere, Marie (SJSH), Marguerite Manaigre (Almanzor), Anna Fortin (Zepherin), Joseph (Annette), Jean-Baptiste (Emma), Madeleine Leveille (Camille). Two sisters-in-law survive, Emma and Annette Dufresne of Montreal. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Juliette and Evangeline, both Sisters of the Cross (Filles de la Croix), Marielle, Louise Lisowski (Ed), all of Winnipeg, and Denise Vivian (Paul) of Ottawa, her grandchildren, Claudine Wenzel (John) and great grandchild Hans of Ottawa, Marina Lea (Tom Undrus) of Seattle, Washington, and Chantal, Manon, and Edward Lisowski of Winnipeg. Reine is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Maman was born on January 6, 1911 in Lorette, Manitoba, the third youngest of ten children. She married Azarie while still young and became an accomplished homemaker. Maman possessed a contagious joie de vivre. Maman was a natural artist and left us a legacy of beautiful paintings to enjoy. Her favourite pastime was playing cards which she enjoyed doing all her life. The family would like to thank Foyer Valade for their loving care and attention. Prayer services will be held at the Provincial House of the Sisters of the Cross (Filles de la Croix), 66 Moore Ave. in St. Vital on Wednesday, August 23, at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Edouard Bonin at the St. Boniface Cathedral the following morning, August 24 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will take place in St. Boniface Cemetery, Archibald St., following the mass. LECLAIRE BROTHERS in care of arrangements. 775-2220
