Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCHARLES ALEXANDER LINDSAY December 29, 1925 - August 19, 2006 A husband, father, grandfather, friend and the Blue Jays #1 fan passed away calmly on August 19, 2006 in the compassionate care of the staff at the Veteran's Wing of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. Charlie was a devoted husband of Norma Ryan and his first wife, Kristjana Lorraine (predeceased). Charlie's children are extremely grateful to Norma, whom their Dad described as his angel of mercy, who made life worth living during their years together. Loving father and grandfather of Gail (Bohdan; Paul), Carol (Dennis; Dean), Scott (Carol Anne; Ryan, Jeffrey, Charlie) and Lori (Peter; Kristjana, Vanessa), and step-father and step-grandfather to Sherry, Bob (Cindy; Vanessa, Erika, Jeff), Pat (Rachel and Cam, Sarah) and Stephen (Linda; Emily, Alex, Carley and Claire). Charlie retired from Canada Packers after 47 years of loyal service in Winnipeg and Toronto. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed being on the executive of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers Football Club and coached several community sports teams. He will be lovingly remembered for his great sense of humour, commitment to his faith, love of sweets, and his popularity as a dancer. We will ensure that his example lives on in each of us. Visitations will be held at Ward Funeral Home, 2035 Weston Rd. (north of Lawrence Avenue), on Wednesday August 23 from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. A celebration of his life will take place at Westway United Church, 8 Templar Dr. (Kipling and The Westway, Etobicoke) on Thursday, August 24 at 2:00 p.m. A reception will follow at the church.
