ESTHER WELSH It is with great sadness that the family of Esther Welsh (nee Mickelson) announces her passing after a brief illness. Esther was born in Port Arthur, ON (now Thunder Bay) on June 16, 1928 and was called home on August 20, 2006. She leaves to mourn her only child Bev Whittaker; son-in-law Mark; and two grandsons, Kevin and Colin who were the lights of her life. She is also survived by sisters, Alma Gustafson and Joan (Reid) Graham; brothers, Frank Amadeo and Victor (Donna) Amadeo all of Thunder Bay; brother-in-law Joe Jurcik of Calgary; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Esther was predeceased by her mother Edna Amadeo; step-father Maurice Amadeo; special friend John Furlan; an infant sister Dolores Amadeo; a sister Christina Jurcik; sisters-in-law, Arlene and Louise Amadeo; and brother-in-law George Gustafson. At her request, there will be no funeral, cremation has taken place. There will be small memorial gatherings in Winnipeg, Dryden and Thunder Bay, ON. Flowers are gratefully declined; donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9, as she was most appreciative of the wonderful care she received there, or to Our Saviour Lutheran Church, Building Fund in Dryden, ON.
