ROBERT ROSS SMITH 1913 2006 Peacefully on Saturday, August 19, 2006, Robert passed away at the age of 92 years, at Parkview Place. Robert was predeceased by his wife Mavis (March 2006) with whom he shared 67 years of marriage; his parents, David and Sarah; seven sisters and two brothers. Remaining to forever cherish in Roberts memory are his sons, Bryan (Marlene), Lance (Diane), David (Darlene); seven grandchildren and seven great-grand-children. Also survived by his brother David (Pat) of Abbotsford, BC. Robert was born in Shoal Lake, MB. He began teaching at Lakelet School near Clan William, MB where he met and married Mavis. In the early 1940's they moved to St. Vital where they had their three sons. Dad began teaching at Windsor School, later moving to Hastings School and St. George School, both of which he was Principal. In 1965 he became Principal at Windsor Park Collegiate and finished his career by doing what he liked best, teaching, and retired from Daniel McIntyre School in 1973. Robert, Mavis and sons moved from St. Vital to Niakawa Park where mom and dad lived and made many friends until November 2005. In keeping with Robert's wishes, no funeral service will be held. Many thanks to the staff at Parkview Place, Central Park Lodge for the care given to Robert till the end. In lieu of flowers, donations in Robert's memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.
