METTA (MAY) JANZEN After a recent illness, Metta (May) Janzen passed away at the Grace Hospital on August 26, 2006. May was born at Whitemouth, Manitoba on October 26, 1922, to parents, Adolf and Louise Kuhn. She was predeceased by her husband Martin in 1977, brothers, Adolf and Rheinhart (Sandy) Kuhn, and sisters, Elnora Stephen, Clara Simpson and Betty Miller. Left to mourn her passing are her son David and his wife Karen, grandsons, Ryan (fiance Amanda) and Kory, and sisters, Helen Klepatz and Wanda Dreger. May grew up and attended school in Whitemouth. On moving to Winnipeg, she worked at Service Station Equipment, where she met Martin. They married on October 21, 1944 and lived briefly in Nanaimo, B.C. where Martin was stationed during the Second World War. After Martin's discharge from service, they made their home in Winnipeg. May returned to work in 1966, employed as a welder at Motor Coach Industries for the next 20 years. May's greatest joy was her grandsons Ryan and Kory, and upon retirement she moved to Charleswood to be nearer to them. She was extremely proud of her boys and their achievements, and her home was filled with pictures of them. She lived at Beauchemin Park for the past 10 years, where she enjoyed her suite and socializing with the friends and neighbours she met there. May loved to travel, first with Martin on road trips in their camper van, and later with her family. She enjoyed many trips to Hamilton to visit her sister Wanda. Her favourite holiday was a trip to Florida with David's family, where she delighted in the enjoyment Ryan and Kory had in Disney World. May had many hobbies and particularly loved doing jigsaw puzzles. There was always a puzzle in progress in her home. She was a skilled needleworker, and completed several beautiful Petit point pictures. In recent years, she enjoyed word puzzles, playing cribbage with Kory, knitting, watching her favourite soaps, and tending her many plants and flowers. She was an avid reader of the daily newspaper. The family wishes to thank the staff and doctors of Grace Hospital 3 South, and especially nurse Terry, for their kindness and compassion during the past three months. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Liver Foundation Manitoba Branch.
