Date of Passing: Aug 26, 2006
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySIDNEY JOHN ROSS August 10, 1936 - August 26, 2006 Peacefully on Saturday, August 26, 2006 after suffering a lengthy illness, Sidney passed away with his children and grandchildren at his side. Sidney was predeceased by his wife Jeannette, who lost her battle with cancer in 1980. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Sydney Jr. and wife Jacquie, Kimberley and Tannis; as well as his four grandchildren, Keith, Jeffery, Taegen and Alexander; his brother David and sisters, Donna and Beverly. He will be missed by many more family and friends. Sidney was born and raised in Bird's Hill and later only a short distance away in Narol had built a home for his wife and children. In the early years, Sid enjoyed working on his mink ranch and hobby farm as well as being a shop foreman at Auto Haus until his retirement. Sidney enjoyed being around friends and family and pleasured in the antics of his children's spirited friends. He had a zest for life that a stroke and illness ended much too soon. A special thank-you to the staff at Maples Care Home as well as the caring nurses and staff at Concordia Place Nursing Home. A memorial service and reception will be held at Glen Eden on Thursday, August 31 at 2:00 p.m. I'll love you forever, like you for always, forever and ever our father you'll be. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sidney's name can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Arrangements entrusted to: Glen Eden Funeral Home 4477 Main Street 338-7111 Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolences at www.gleneden-mb.ca.

Sid Ross you truly were one of a kind, one of the last true gentlemen of your time. I will never forget that grin on your face when you did or said something smart, or the Fridays we went to The Grant after work for "One beer" then you would say "can't fly on one wing John" let's have one more. In a lifetime one only meets a handfull of people that are remembered as truly kind and genuine to his word, to me you will be on that list. Rest in peace my friend.
