Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOSEPHINA VAN ES Josephina passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 29, 2006. Josephina was born on July 2, 1924 in The Netherlands. She met her future husband Dirk while dancing and so began a love to last. They were married in 1953. Shortly after, they immigrated to Canada, eventually settling in Winnipeg. Together they raised four children in a home full of love and laughter. Mom lived life to the fullest. She gave us so many gifts that we will keep close to our hearts. She displayed such courage, determination and strength of will throughout her life. Her strong faith enabled her to face adversity with honour and dignity was to be admired. Josephina's strength of love and sense of humour were enjoyed by all those whose lives she touched. Josephina will be missed by her family. Dirk, her husband of 53 years of marriage, will cherish the memories they created together; as well as her children and grandchildren. Daughter Joan La Rue-van Es, husband Dave La Rue and grandchildren, Nicole, Peter and Joelle (Jeremy Epp); daughter Jean Dowling, husband Graeme and grandchildren, Michael (Lindsay D'Agostini), Matthew, Christopher (Maggie Kwan) and Cara; son Frank van Es, wife Christine and grandchildren, Kyle and Riley; daughter Carol-Ann Swayzie, husband Greg and grandchildren, Jenna and Ryan. Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 1 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Military Chapel, 2235 Silver Avenue (entrance from Ness Ave.) with Captain Lance Magdziak presiding. Interment will take place with a private family gathering at a later date. Our family thanks you for your continued prayers and support. Our family would like to thank Dr. Hildahl, whose ongoing support meant so much to Mom. We also wish to extend our thanks to the staff at the Grace Hospital, who helped Mom live her last days with dignity. The support of Drs. Smith, Hamadani and McTavish was appreciated. The caring, compassionate touch of the staff on 4S made a profound difference. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Grace Hospital Foundation, 300 Booth Drive, Winnipeg, MB R3J 3M7.
